Release Mugshots as Booking Records
The Colbert County Sheriff's released roster displays booking photos for released entries inside the official 48-hour release view. The current roster also displays booking photos for people still in custody. Those photos are connected to a specific booking number, booking date, charges, bond information, and release date when the released feed has the person in its rolling window. Once the person drops from the public feed, the photo may still exist in agency records even though it is no longer visible online.
Alabama's public-records framework starts with Code Section 36-12-40 et seq., but public access is not unlimited. Juvenile records, Youthful Offender Act records, sealed or expunged records, active-investigation concerns, security concerns, and other statutory limits can affect whether a booking photo is displayed or released. No Alabama anti-pay-to-remove mugshot statute was confirmed in the research, so this page does not claim one.
Where a Released Mugshot Appears
Use official and custody-specific sources first. A photo source that proves a booking happened does not always prove the person is currently released, still in custody, or under supervision.

The Sheriff Roster Photo Window
Colbert County's official recent-release source is the sheriff's 48-hour released roster, not a separate 24-hour or 72-hour photo gallery. The chooser describes the released view as all persons released from the Colbert County Detention Center within the last 48 hours. The released view can show booking photo, name, booking number, age, release date, booking date, charges, bond, and profile link. It also has name/date and current/released controls plus name search.
If the person is outside the 48-hour public window, the roster may no longer show the photo. Use a records request, court record, or another official custodian rather than assuming the photo was erased. Colbert County Public Safety has Android and iOS app listings. The descriptions mention public-safety news, tips, interactive features, and sheriff information, but the research did not confirm a separate inmate-release or mugshot archive inside the app. Treat the app as a supplemental sheriff information channel, not a replacement for the official roster.
Requesting a Booking Photo
No dedicated online Colbert sheriff release-record request form was found in the research. Use a written Alabama public-records request to the Colbert County Sheriff's Office / Detention Center when the booking photo is no longer visible on the roster.
- Identify the person with full name and date of birth if known.
- Include the booking number from the roster if available.

ADOC and Registry Photo Limits
ADOC records can include state-prison identification or photo context for current inmates, but ADOC's public inmate search is not a historical released-inmate search. ADOC states that the public database contains currently incarcerated inmates only and that historical data is not available online. After state-prison release, use ADOC public records if a state-prison photo or discharge record is needed and releasable.
Registry photos are different from jail booking photos. If a released person is required to register, ALEA or OffenderWatch-related registry records may show current registry information. This applies only to registry-eligible offenders and should not be used as a general Colbert County mugshot lookup.

Third-party mugshot and social mirror pages exist for Colbert County, but they are not official release confirmation sources. They may copy booking content, retain it after the official window expires, omit corrections, or show content without the full court or custody context. For that reason, this page does not link to commercial mugshot mirrors or point readers toward removal vendors.
Local news and sheriff press releases can sometimes include a photo in a specific case. Use those sources for context, then confirm the actual release status through the Colbert County Sheriff's Office, the court record, ADOC, BOP, ICE, or another official custodian.
Expungement and Photo Access
Expungement or sealing can make online release, court, or booking-photo information unavailable or incomplete. ALEA says a certified criminal-history record is required before filing for expungement, and Alabama court forms include Form CR-65, Petition for Expungement of Records.
